GRISOFT, the developer of AVG security software, has announced several new versions of its antivirus software for GNU/Linux and FreeBSD open source platforms.

The products include AVG Email Server Edition 7.5 for Linux/FreeBSD and new products for the GNU/Linux platform - AVG Anti-Virus Professional Edition 7.5 for Linux/FreeBSD and AVG File Server Edition 7.5 for Linux/FreeBSD.

The new products are inline with GRISOFT’s strategy to support alternative operating systems including FreeBSD.

AVG Email Server Edition 7.5 for Linux/FreeBSD includes integrated anti-spam and faster e-mail scanning than the previous edition. Antivirus and anti-spam integration reduces pressure on the email server and improves user efficiency by eliminating the number of unsolicited e-mails.

AVG File Server Edition 7.5 for Linux/FreeBSD provides antivirus protection of data stored on file servers in a heterogeneous environment. Scanning files from the server increases efficiency by freeing resources on the workstations. AVG Anti-Virus Professional Edition 7.5 for Linux/FreeBSD provides professional antivirus protection for workstations running alternative operating systems.

AVG security products for GNU/Linux and FreeBSD are compatible with older PCs and servers because of their minimal hardware requirements such as Intel Pentium 200 MHz and 256 MB of system memory. Installation packages of new AVG products are available for FreeBSD and most Linux distributions including RedHat, Suse, Debian and Mandriva.

AVG products for GNU/Linux and FreeBSD are available immediately, for purchase or for trial. The are available through authorised partners and distributors or from the AVG web site at www.avguk.com.
