IBM Introduces New Telecom Security System

IBM has announced security hardware, software and services to address the security needs of the user, enterprise systems and the core of large-scale Internet Protocol (IP) carrier networks. The Telecom Core Infrastructure Security Solution monitors and manages the health of both the network and the traffic itself.
The system addresses security needs generated by the increase in IP-based services such as telephone services over the Internet, Internet TV, push to talk and instant messaging. Such services are vulnerable to a new type of attack which is designed to disable the key components and networks that deliver the services.
The Telecom Core Infrastructure Security Solution includes accurate and early anomaly detection. It provides mitigation options that allow network operators to take action and enforce policy either manually or automatically.
The solution includes several components. Tivoli® Security Operations Manager monitors and correlates events from security components, such as firewalls and intrusion detection systems. The NarusInsight™ Secure Suite from Narus, Inc. monitors and correlates traffic that flows across the carrier network.
Tivoli Netcool software provides an additional tier of correlation between Tivoli Security Operations Manager and NarusInsight Secure Suite. This multi-tiered correlation capability means that the system can detect the widest possible range of attacks, with significantly increased accuracy.
The systems uses IBM® BladeCenter® servers which use less power, produce significantly less heat, have longer life spans, and are easy to set up and scale. Integration, delivery and support services are included.
