Centennial Software, a leading developer of IT asset discovery and security management solutions, has launched Security.Advisor, which helps identify the software and firmware vulnerabilities hidden across the entire network.
In conjunction with Centennial’s Discovery asset management solution, Security.Advisor searches the network for vulnerabilities in software and hardware and directs users to the right patches and remedial actions to solve any problems it identifies.
On an IT network using Security.Advisor, an agent is present on every PC, ensuring that the whole network is protected.
Centennial has also released new research which reveals that 70% of IT managers have failed to take any action to ascertain exactly what assets are on the corporate network. The research also revealed that only 20% of those questioned had carried out any kind of software audit to establish what was on their network and reach software asset management (SAM) compliance targets.
Security.Advisor works with Centennial’s Discovery tool to audit the IT network and identify security hotspots. It alerts administrators to ‘greynet’ software installed without permission, including password-revealers, games and peer-to-peer file sharing software.
Security.Advisor compares the information it finds against a comprehensive database of threats. It is available as an add-on component to Centennial Discovery 2006 Feature Pack 1.
Centennial Software has offices in the USA, UK, Germany and Australia.
