Paypal Provides Hardware Solution To Phishing

By Janet Harris

January 16, 2007

Paypal is developing security hardware to protect its customers against phishing and other malicious attacks. The new Security Key generates a unique one-time-use password every 30 seconds, which is used together with a username and password to log into an account.

The key provides an additional level of security, protecting the account even if a phisher has accessed the username and login details.

The Security Key is small and portable - it can be kept on a key chain to ensure that it is always to hand.

The key is available for a one-time non-refundable fee of $5.00.
