Source Web Filtering Offered by Viatel

Viatel, the Internet Service Provider is to provide its web-filtering software as a service to UK customers.
The service, which is based on ScanSafe’s WebControl content security software, redirects all company web traffic through its dedicated servers and scrutinizes it prior to presenting the filtered content to the end-user.
WebControl is capable of defending companies from risks including spyware, web viruses, phishing and adware according to Viatel . Additionally it can block websites and filter out traffic that a corporation wants to restrict from its staff , such as social-networking sites, video streaming or IM.
Additionally, Viatel stated that IT managers would have the ability to employ the service to attain comprehensive metrics and insight into their company’s web activity down to individual employee level, assisting them in tracing security violations and implement their web use policy.
The goal is to permit UK companies to outsource what’s progressively becoming a standard corporate prerequisite, said Arjan van Proosdij, Viatel’s security product manager. He maintained that the service could assist companies manage their bandwidth and more effectively control its use.
He added “While many of our clients do not have the in-house resources to monitor web use and threats, others don’t want the time and cost of managing another vendor relationship. WebControl requires no hardware, maintenance or up-front capital costs”.
Van Proosdij stated that additionally Viatel would offer ScanSafe’s Anywhere+ service, providing web security and control on mobile devices.
Viatel recently added uncontended broadband services as an alternative to leased lines in addition to its existing managed firewall and email security services .
