Delay Update Of FISA Act

By Lashan Clarke

January 30, 2008

The United States Senate has place a hold on the update to the FISA Amendments Act. The Act was created about thirty years ago. The main premise of the FISA Act is to give the government the ability to listen in on all communications.

If the Attorney General approves this action, the ACT would allow the government to spy listen in on someone not located within the United States.

This legislation is full of controversy because it allows telecommunication companies the right to eavesdrop on someone living internationally. The telecommunications company is protected from a lawsuit during this time.
