Spain was the site for the latest discussions on the guidelines for setting up antivirus software. The group of software research scientists gathered to discuss more stringent methods for diagnosing viruses, and establishing better guidelines for the testing of antivirus software.

According to David Marcus, form McAfee, the purpose of the meeting was mainly to ensure that companies involved in the testing of antiviral software, are all following the same protocol, “The major concern is that a lot of people will run or try to run antivirus tests, and while we have no issues with people testing our products, we want to question whether you are testing correctly and … whether you are actually using malware in your test,” he stated.
