East-Tec Eraser 2008 released
March 9, 2008
East-Tec Eraser 2008, a program designed to permanently wipe data from your computer, has been released.
It can be used to completely delete sensitive data from your system or information stored on your machine without your knowledge. This is often difficult as even once the recycling bin has been emptied, content remains on the hard drive that can be accessed by specialist software.
East-Tec Eraser works by searching through your brower history and hard drive to remove unwanted information from e-mails, temporary files and cookies, as well as from your trash can and hundreds of applications, including major browsers such as Internet Explorer, Firefox and Opera, p2p network applications like Limewire, Kazaa and iMesh, as well as programs like Windows Media Player, RealPlayer and WinAmp.
It is supported by Windows versions from 98 onwards. East-Tec Eraser exceeds criteria set by the U.S. Department of Defence for the satisfactory deletion of data.
