Security Competition Between Microsoft and Mozilla
by Lashan Clarke
In what seems to be not only an increasing competition between Microsoft and Mozilla, as well an understanding of the need to increase Internet security, both companies have recently announced that they will be adding new security updates.
Mozilla has stated that the new version of FireFox called FireFox 3 will have an even stronger ability to protect users as they surf the Internet. Microsoft has also stated that its Internet Explorer 8 will have two new security addons that will help the user know of a potentially unsafe site, as well as highlight the domain.
According to Microsoft, “With the Safety Filter, Microsoft will now protect against a broader set of online threats by analyzing the full URL string, providing more granular detection and prevention capabilities enables us to protect against more targeted and sophisticated attacks”.
