House Dems Refuse Surveillance Bill
March 13, 2008
What has seemed like an easy to pass has encountered more problems. This week the House Democrats have vetoed signing a bill that will grant the Federal government of the United States the ability to carry out more surveillance on civilians either home or suspected terror groups abroad.
This bill hopes to give any telecommunication companies that cooperate immunity from future prosecution, as well as immunity from illegal wiretapping in the past. However, House Democrats are adamant that they would be more willing to be in favour of a bill that was more lenient on telecommunications with the ability for them to defend themselves is charged in court.
