On Tuesday, Ringside Networks, Inc. launched its company and its innovative open-source software Ringside Social Application Server™. The software allows existing websites to intregrate with social networks. The beta version for working with Facebook applications is available now for both end users and developers. Different versions, which vary depending on features desired and technical sauvy, may be downloaded. API support for MySpace, hi5, Bebo, orkut and and others will be available soon. Ringside has obtained a GNU Lesser General Public License (LGPL) for its software. Seeing the success off Jboss and Red Hat, Ringside is committed to open source transparent development philosophy and organization.
Ringside founder, Bob Bickel states, “Companies have spent far too much time and effort building their brands, websites, content and applications to hand over social networking to some third party. Ringside Networks gives them a way to get control over this important new way of interacting with their users and customers, while still being able to tie into the big social networks.”
