CNN Alerts: My Custom Alert email spam
by Brian Turner
A new form of email spam has been deluging the web over the past week.
The emails are all titled “CNN Alerts: My Custom Alert email spam”, and are filled with links to relevant CNN newsletter links.
However, the emails are spoofed with the main link to the “Full story” actually linking to an unrelated attack websites, commonly to Russian domains, though Chinese and Middle East domains have also been used.
Anyone receiving these emails is strongly advised to delete them, to avoid their user details being phished or their PC from being directly attacked.
In the meantime, it remains interesting to see how these attacks are widening their subject matter, and the warning remains that users must be increasingly vigilant against cyber attacks – especially via email spam.
