Cyber-Ark Calls On Government to Adopt EU Security Policies

A highly publicized incident in which a disk containing personal details of over 5,000 Ministry of Justice staff went missing has prompted Cyber-Ark to claim that it is time for the EU data security controls to be fully taken up in the UK.

They say there is a strong need for government departments and agencies to legally enforce the use of encryption of private and personal data on government employees and members of the general public.

The data that went missing on this occasion included personal details of active prison officers.

This of course could cause all kinds of potential security problems if used by criminal or terrorist elements.

The company also makes an issue of the fact that the disk went missing over a year ago but the news has only just been made public.

They would, like many others, want to know why this breach of security took so long to be announced.

Cyber-Ark believes that it is now time for the British government to totally review its security and also implement EU best practice guidelines and policy enforcement systems, to ensure this seeming never ending list of incidents does not continue.

They point out that no security system in the world is viable if correct practices are not followed and stringently enforced.
