In a security market that is beginning to see problems with tried and tested security solutions such as Secure FTP, companies are turning more and more towards alternative ways of keeping data secure.

One such solution is Sensitive Information Management, another comes in the form of PIM or Privileged Identity Management.

Cyber-Ark, a pioneer in this field has just announced the release of the latest version of its Inter-Business Vault (IBV).

This 5.0 variation continues to make use of the popular Managed File Transfer (MFT) solution for data exchange governance. MFT manages transfers to third parties with secure connectivity.

The company says that the Inter-Business Vault is an extension of previously used MFT that allows more flexibility for companies’ IT security experts to add on their own particular policies for governing security to suit their own needs.

The 5.0 is the only single platform for support of every kind of file transference such as ad hoc and automated processes.

This will give companies one single platform with which to securely transfer important information, in-house or to third parties.

The company believes that the global market for these kinds of products grows at somewhere around 25% each year and at present is worth around $450 million per annum.

They see more widespread use by their main corporate clients that include banks and insurance companies and many other financial and non-financial institutions that require secure data transfer.

The 5.0 version has several new features including a new and brandable Secure File Exchange (SFE) web-portal, and a simplified file transfer process with ad hoc third-party connectivity.
